About the Role The Director of Platform Engineering & DevSecOps is a senior technical leader responsible for building and operating the core infrastructure, services, and delivery frameworks that power all of CINC’s engineering teams. This person will lead a global organization of engineers and architects focused on reliability, automation, and developer experience. The Director will drive modernization of the platform, align it with AWS best practices, and embed security, observability, and scalability into every layer of the system. This role requires a strong mix of technical depth, leadership maturity, and structured thinking. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable defining a long-term platform strategy and getting close to the technical details that make it real. Key Responsibilities - Lead the Platform Engineering and DevSecOps organization to design, deliver, and operate the shared infrastructure that supports all of CINC’s software systems
- Define and execute the long-term platform roadmap in alignment with the CTO and VP of Platform & DevEx, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security for a software engineering organization of 150+ people
- Architect and implement AWS-based solutions using core services including EventBridge, API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFormation, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and Step Functions
- Serve as the subject matter expert in the AWS Well-Architected Framework, ensuring systems are designed for operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Drive the migration from monolithic systems to modular, event-driven architectures that improve performance, scalability, and decoupling
- Establish and maintain secure, automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code templates for consistent delivery across environments
- Lead change management and adoption of new platform capabilities across global teams, ensuring new tools and services are effectively communicated, adopted, and measured
- Partner with Product Line Engineering leaders to ensure that platform services are aligned with team needs and supported by clear SLAs and documentation
- Build and maintain shared services including identity and access management (SSO, OIDC, tokens), observability frameworks, and feature flag systems
- Manage the DevSecOps strategy, embedding security automation, vulnerability scanning, and compliance monitoring into daily workflows
- Collaborate with AI, Architecture, and Data teams to ensure platform capabilities support emerging AI-native and data-driven product initiatives
- Mentor and grow engineering leaders within the platform organization, fostering a culture of clarity, trust, and continuous improvement
Qualifications Leadership and Experience - 15+ years of experience in software or platform engineering
- Minimum of 8 years leading technical teams, including 4+ years leading Platform Engineering or DevOps teams supporting a software engineering organization of 150+
- Proven experience building and leading distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones
- Strong track record managing cross-functional initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving organizational change
Technical Expertise - Deep hands-on experience designing, building, and operating production systems on AWS
- Expert-level understanding of AWS API, event-driven, and serverless capabilities including EventBridge, API Gateway, Lambda, and Step Functions
- Expert in AWS architecture design and the AWS Well-Architected Framework across all five pillars
- Skilled in building event-driven and microservice-oriented systems using modern service integration patterns
- Familiar with CI/CD frameworks, infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform), and security automation
- Experience managing SQL Server and other large-scale relational databases is a plus
- Strong understanding of system observability, incident response, and operational performance measurement
- Proven ability to evaluate build versus buy decisions and manage platform vendor relationships
