What you will do
As a Data Engineer on our Data Platform team, you'll play a key role in building the foundation that powers Lighthouse's data. You will leverage your passion for complex data and quality to improve our scalable, reliable, and secure data management systems. Your work will be foundational, supporting the entire Engineering Organization and enabling data-driven decisions across the company.
Where you will have impact
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable, reliable data pipelines using the Google Cloud stack to ingest, process, and store diverse data sets.
- Implement and maintain robust data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance across the organization.
- Drive architectural decisions by creating and maintaining clear RFCs and documentation for our data platform.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, implementing proactive measures to guarantee reliability and high performance.
- Collaborate effectively with Data Science, Analytics, and DevOps teams to productionize models and automate deployments.
- Work closely togehter with the team, providing technical guidance to other engineers and helping to build a strong culture of knowledge sharing.

Lighthouse’s Data Platform team has the following responsibilities and goals:
- Scalability, reliability, and security: A good data platform should be able to handle increasing volumes of data and user demands, provide reliable access to data, and protect the data from unauthorised access or loss.

- Data governance and compliance: With the increasing importance and sensitivity of data, it's crucial to have clear policies and procedures for managing data, as well as ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Who you are
- Multiple years of professional experience in data processing using Python, Java, or Scala, with a strong preference for Python.
- Proven ability to ship large features and projects independently.
- Strong capability to generate and implement sound architectural recommendations.
- Experience improving, managing, and teaching standards for code maintainability and performance.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- A commitment to staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
We welcome
- Familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes (GKE), and CI/CD tools like GitLab CI.
- Experience with distributed data processing (Apache Beam, Spark), event sourcing (Kafka), and concepts like Lambda Architecture.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
Technologies you will work with
GCP, Python, BigQuery, Kubernetes, Airflow, dbt, Dataflow, Kafka, Terraform.
