About Netcraft
Netcraft is the global leader in cybercrime detection and disruption. We’re a trusted partner for three of the four largest companies in the world, and many large country governments. We've blocked almost 200 million cyber-attacks to date, and we take down around 33% of the world's phishing attacks.
Our purpose and passion are focused on just one thing: protecting the world from cybercrime.
Our passion doesn't stop at what we do - it shapes how we work, too. We're proud of our talented team and the value each person brings. That's why we've created a workplace where people feel supported and inspired, from great benefits and wellness programs to fun social events.
The Role
Reporting to Netcraft’s Director for Platform Engineering, you will lead Netcraft’s infrastructure team, as well as making technical contributions of your own. Your direct reports will be other managers (Engineering Team Leads) as well as our most senior individual contributors (Principal Engineers). Your primary remit will be Netcraft’s AWS infrastructure: Kubernetes and Linux/EC2 workloads, across Commercial and GovCloud environments.
Whilst London is stated as the job location, we’re also excited to meet candidates who would prefer to work from our Bath or Manchester offices.
Day to day, you’ll be:
- Running activities in our infrastructure team: conducting regular ceremonies; prioritising, assigning and reviewing work; and ensuring timely delivery of planned objectives.
- Line-managing other managers, as well as the department’s most senior individual contributors. This will include an active role in coaching and mentoring engineers, sharing your expertise, and contributing to the growth of our engineering function.
- Making excellent technical contributions of your own, assigning yourself Jira tickets like the rest of the team.
- Supporting engineering leadership with strategy: including roadmapping, prioritisation, budget allocation, cost management, vendor selection and hiring.
- Ensuring high availability and security of Netcraft’s systems and data (both internal and customer-facing).
- Striving to improve and accelerate the developer experience for Netcraft’s engineers.
- Managing, and participating in, the on-call roster for the infrastructure team.
- Monitoring the operational health of Netcraft’s environments, identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks, security risks, and any other issues.
- Ensuring excellent observability into Netcraft’s environments.
- Optimising Netcraft’s usage of AWS services for cost, performance, and security.
- Providing guidance on cloud best practices and security standards.
