About Netcraft

Netcraft is the global leader in cybercrime detection and disruption. We’re a trusted partner for three of the four largest companies in the world, and many large country governments. We've blocked almost 200 million cyber-attacks to date, and we take down around 33% of the world's phishing attacks.

Our purpose and passion are focused on just one thing: protecting the world from cybercrime.

Our passion doesn't stop at what we do - it shapes how we work, too. We're proud of our talented team and the value each person brings. That's why we've created a workplace where people feel supported and inspired, from great benefits and wellness programs to fun social events.

The Role

We’re looking for a technically gifted and strategically minded Team Lead to guide our BBMF (Browser-Based Malware and Fetching) team. This cutting-edge team plays a critical role in the fight against cybercrime, developing advanced browser automation systems to detect, classify, and counteract novel malware threats.

You’ll lead a small but high-impact group of engineers focused on evolving detection capabilities, modernising our core services, and spearheading innovative applications of new technology to solving complex problems in the fetching space. You'll provide technical leadership, foster a culture of excellence, and drive development that keeps us ahead in the cat-and-mouse game against the fraudsters.

You’ll be:

  • Overseeing the design and development of the Central Fetching Service, Form Filler and Browser-Based Malware detection services.
  • Collaborating with other internal teams across the Engineering function to integrate the Central Fetching Service further into their systems.
  • Ensuring high code quality and operational reliability through strong engineering practices and collaboration with Platform Engineering.
  • Fostering knowledge sharing, technical mentoring, and personal growth within the team.
  • Maintaining a balanced focus across greenfield research and development, sustaining engineering, and technical debt reduction.
  • Supporting the Director of Engineering and CTO in pay and promotion decisions for members of the team.
  • Significantly contributing to ideation within the team and playing a key part in the long-term road mapping process for the work the team does.

The reward package

An excellent range of benefits including:

  • Hybrid and flexible working options
  • Minimum of 33 days holiday per annum (incl. public holidays)
  • Pension scheme membership with 4% employer contributions + NI savings
  • Private health cover, including access to a private GP service
  • Equity tracking scheme, so you can share in the rewards of Netcraft's long-term success (eligibility criteria apply)
  • Comprehensive wellness and support provisions
  • Enhanced family leave provisions
  • Life Assurance
  • Two days paid Volunteering Leave per year
  • Free meals, drinks and snacks provided daily in the offices
  • Regular social events such as board game nights, big summer party and annual kick-off
  • A tax-efficient cycle to work scheme; and
  • Inclusive culture and environment, where you’ll feel genuinely valued and respected.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Strong and demonstrable management and supervision skills, and a willingness to expand the scope of those skills and take on a greater level of responsibility
  • Strong engineering background with recent hands-on experience in Golang, TypeScript, or similar systems languages
  • Experience working in a Kubernetes-based deployment environment
  • Familiarity with browser automation tools and headless browsers
  • A strong understanding of cybercrime, online fraud, and malware classification methodologies, and a keen interest in the developments within the space
  • Strong communication skills - the ability to distil technical ideas to stakeholders and motivate a team
  • A willingness to continually improve the efficiency of a team, and an interest in optimising the Software Development Life Cycle
  • An interest in the workings of the wider business and assisting the Director of Engineering in the day-to-day management of a large department within the Engineering function.
