Overview
The Country Manager will lead our operations in the Dominican Republic, overseeing business performance and the colleague experience. Operating within a matrix reporting structure, most colleagues will report directly to US-based managers, with dotted-line oversight from this role. The Country Manager blends strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership to ensure smooth, compliant, and goal-aligned execution across the country. Success in this role requires influencing and collaborating across departments, driving results without direct authority, and building strong local relationships.
This role involves access to proprietary systems and sensitive information, and may be subject to confidentiality and information security requirements as defined by company policies and applicable law.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Implements country strategy in alignment with Origami headquarters/global objectives.
- Contributes to strategic planning and execution of country-level initiatives.
- Leads change management efforts and supports organizational transformation
Financial Oversight and Planning
- Supports budgeting, forecasting, and cost management in collaboration with Finance.
- Monitors financial performance and ensures alignment with broader company goals.
Operations Management
- Oversees day-to-day country operations, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and local requirements.
- Acts as the primary liaison between local teams and global/regional leadership.
- Collaborates cross-functionally (Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Operations) to support business goals and ensure business continuity.
- Represents the company in-country, acting as the primary point of contact for local colleagues.
Stakeholder Management
- Manages relationships with key stakeholders, including external partners (clients, government bodies, vendors) and internal teams (global headquarters, regional leadership), ensuring alignment and effective communication.
People Leadership
- In partnership with global HR, leads hiring, onboarding, and retention initiatives to build high-performing teams and create a positive, inclusive, and safe workplace culture aligned with Origami values.
- Partners with Talent Acquisition to build relationships with local universities, represent the organization at career fairs and campus recruiting events, coordinate in-person interviews, and cultivate a steady pipeline of early career talent while ensuring a seamless candidate experience.
- Identifies, coaches, and develops in-country leaders to build a strong leadership pipeline.
- Drives employee engagement and feedback programs in partnership with global HR.
- Manages performance management processes and addresses performance issues as the local “boots on the ground,” in collaboration with HR and people leaders.
- Plans and executes team-building and culture-building events (ie. holiday parties, community service, office lunches, happy hours).
- Manages internal communications and supports management efforts.
- Serves as a liaison to colleagues on all people-related matters.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensures compliance with local labor laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Ensures business continuity and risk mitigation across HR and operational domains.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred; Associate’s degree required.
- Experience managing operations in a multinational or matrixed environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local labor laws and HR practices.
- Proven ability to influence and lead in a matrixed, global organization.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Fluency in English.
