About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our growing Accounting team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing critical areas of the month-end close, customer contract reviews, technical accounting, and tax compliance. The ideal candidate has strong working knowledge of ASC 606, is highly proficient in NetSuite, and thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
Responsibilities:
- Own key components of the monthly close process, including preparing and reviewing complex journal entries and reconciliations.
- Perform and oversee account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and analyze customer contracts for proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
- Serve as a key contributor to the year-end audit, including preparing audit schedules and managing auditor requests.
- Support tax compliance (sales/use, franchise, 1099, etc.) in collaboration with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and lead process improvements, including documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Act as a NetSuite power user, helping optimize system workflows and reporting.
- Leverage AI to improve processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Finance teams on revenue, billing, and contract-related matters.
- Assist with reviewing the work of other team members as needed to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a SaaS or technology environment preferred.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.
- Experience preparing for and supporting external audits.
- Proficient in NetSuite; experience with system optimization or automation is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated initiative in improving processes and documenting procedures.
