ABOUT THE POSITION
The Corporate Controller will serve as a strategic partner to the VP Finance, CFO and senior leadership team and will serve as a key member of the finance team. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization, including other members of management, our PE Sponsors, the Board, auditors, tax advisors, other consultants, and our banking partners. The Controller will contribute to the overall growth strategy and will be empowered to drive change and make very meaningful a difference. The business is poised for accelerated growth – organically and through acquisitions – and is well-capitalized with the support of a management-supporting investment partner.
As a key finance and accounting leader you will ensure that monthly financial results are prepared timely and accurately with insightful and comprehensive analysis supported by the underlying business performance. You will be responsible for the day-to-day finance operations of the business, including the purchase to pay and quote to cash process. You’ll be responsible for driving improved business processes and enhanced system capabilities and controls. You’ll be responsible for developing performance plans that assign accountability throughout your organization, and measuring those plans with timely, actionable KPIs. You will work to establish scalable and efficient teams, processes and systems to enable significant business growth (organically and through M&A).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS-RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing accurate and timely insight into the financial and operating performance of the business
- Operating in an efficient/effective & scalable financial systems environment
- Publishing meaningful financial reporting packages for internal and external use
- Leading a high-performing and efficient team, owning revenue recognition accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, tax accounting and financial reporting
- Partnering with the C-Suite and VP Finance to identify operating improvements and earnings growth strategies
- Owning banking and audit relationships
- Championing the organization's entrepreneurial, high-performing culture
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful history of contributing to a growth strategy as a critical member of a team
- Demonstrated business acumen and ability to drive operational improvements including reducing monthly financial close cycle-time; improving accuracy and transparency
- Exemplary analytical capabilities and a fact-based, hands-on approach to identify and diagnose issues and trends and develop effective business solutions
- Experience implementing and improving financial reporting systems (NetSuite)
- Exceptional systems and process orientation with the ability and desire to “roll up one’s sleeves” and drive continuous improvement. History of building capabilities that will scale as the business grows
- Development and ownership of monthly financial reporting materials including Board reporting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SaaS-specific accounting, treasury, tax acumen and revenue recognition
- History of effectively driving transformational change
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, combined with an understanding of how to develop and implement best-practice business processes
- Ability to think long-term while still maximizing short-term performance
- Hands-on, advanced level Excel proficiency
- Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- M&A and post-merger integration experience is a plus
- Strong communication and team building skills. Ability to be a “player coach” and both lead and roll-up your sleeves to get it done
- Adept at working with all levels within the organization and third parties
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- CPA
- Minimum 10 -15 years operationally oriented, progressive finance & accounting leadership
- Experience managing financial operations in a SaaS business
- Experience in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment – able to deal with complexity and low resource-based circumstances. A sense of urgency and willingness to take decisions and “own” them
- Ability to develop and implement highly scalable systems, tools, and processes
- Experience interfacing with and managing external auditors and tax advisors
- NetSuite experience preferred
